Valhalla Knights

"Wow."

submission: Valhalla Knights
date: May 18, 2005

That was one of the best animated works I have seen submitted to Newgrounds this year, and ever. I saw this through submission and gave it a 5 and saw it was on 4.9 :D It is well worthy of it's current score of 4.50+ and it's a shame it'll get voted down to the 'no-submissions-can-be-better-than-this' 4.27 area. This is twice, Mr. Granfaloon, that you have scooped all possible awards for your submission this year (the other being 'The Real Legend 2) and have been sitting on top spot of all time. You, in my opinion, have become one of the Newgrounds elite in Flash submissions, and it is about time someone replied with their answer to your incredible pieces. This is also the first 10 I have seriously meant to give to a submission this year, except for 'There She Is - Step 2', and you are well on a par with that. Brilliant - 97%.

Retarded Animal Babies 13

"Fantastic"

date: May 12, 2005

That was one of the funniest flash movies I have ever watched here on Newgrounds - well animated, lovely graphics, unique sounds - the only thing that did annoy me was that there was no skip button for the intro - and this may deter some less patient viewers to continue watching through the golden movie. Nice job though :D

Spaced Out! (Pilot)

"As they say in France..."

date: May 6, 2005

... l'animation c'etait excellente - guess what that means lol... erm but really well drawn and lip sync-ed pretty well, good dialogue with great humour - best 'First Newgrounds Submission' I've seen for a while, and it did have an air of a successful comedy series - make Ep. 1 and Ep.2 of this soon (maybe release them together?) and keep that humour element there, and the nice drawing style - and since you have chosen 'Space' as your setting, there are pretty much endless possibilities for story - very well done, one of my favourite pieces this year, only a few have had it bettered, but perhaps this could grow to be big.... IT RULED! 89%

Uh... "What is 'the animation is excellent'?" Yay! I win. Thank you for the kind words. :)

Removed Flash Strike!

"Entertainin'"

date: May 2, 2005

I thought, although not an original concept, it was well carried out, and was a fun 'coffee-break' style game. The images you used were well edited etc. and the sound was relative to the game. How did you make the gun/hand move in that way with the crosshair? I am aware of how to make the crosshair but not the gun. I would be appreciative if you wouldn't mind explaining it. Thanks, and a good game! 81% - STRIKE!

Author's Response:

Thanks for the wicked review.
I basically make the gun movie rotation relative to the mouse X divided by 10(so it does spin ridiculously!) i then also plot the movie x to the mouse x divided by 12. Then finaly set the rotation of the movie also to the Y of the mouse... That gives quite nice movement. phew thats about it, (the sniper zoom was more difficult :P. obviously u have to fiddle with the numbers to get it right for the particular movement you want.

Thanks

Tom

-Romeo and Juliet-

"nice little short animation"

submission: -Romeo and Juliet-
date: April 29, 2005

i remember doing 'romeo and juliet' last year - it was probably less interesting than headbutting a wall until one bleeds :S ok... well anyway it was well drawn and funny too - and everyone should love daleks - maybe try a compilation of maybe 3 of these that'd be good - i'm watching out for you in the future :)

Floyd The Snail

"That was Floyd-Tastic! :P"

submission: Floyd The Snail
date: April 28, 2005

I liked one of the shorter ones of these with Floyd being chased by the salt shaker, but this was really good and an improvement in story and length. I thought the graphics were tremendous, especially the long shots of the backgrounds and waterfall, and these have inspired the backgrounds in my future movies to improve! Classic ending altogther really well done!

Grim's The Fight II

"That was really cool..."

date: April 18, 2005

... I liked the way you gave the options of which fight you wanted to choose - and it was a good number of selections. Some of the graphics were a bit dodgy (like some of the bitmaps e.g. the girl who scares the guy to death) but the sprites were done well, and the intro graphics and the close up at the beginning of the fight were nicely done. How did you do the railings and the opening doors? Was it a 3D program (like Swift) or were they photographed or downloaded? It added a nice dimensional effect. I rated your style 10 because it was pretty unique in it's own way and I just liked it as a clever piece altogether. Thanks for the viewing - but I would say it was more a movie than a game :) Nice Job !

The Inimical - Episode 1

"Nice beginning..."

date: April 10, 2005

This looks like it has the potential to be a great story-themed series. Reminded me a bit of the 'Freak' series, but it was different. I thought the animation was relatively simple but still very effective and the voice over quality was very, very good and gave it an extra 'mysteriousness'. Well done, make Episode 2 (with that nice intro again :P), but don't rush it, make it like this, with a bit more tweeking, and you could have yourself a daily award :)

Author's Response:

Thank you, I actually did not think about putting the intro (part 1) with part 2, but that might work. I will work on it, take my time, and not just slap it together. I know it takes a while but I will take the advice given and make the best thing I can with it all.

Going Nowhere Fast

"This should stay on the 'grounds..."

submission: Going Nowhere Fast
date: April 7, 2005

... because although it is an 'exhausted' shoot-in-the-head idea, the drawing was extremely well done and this gave it the 'cartoon-book' style. It was reasonably funny though, and the intro button was good, a bit of a change. The sound was the worst section, it just got annoying, but this is worthy, although short, of a place on Newgrounds, with a score around 2 - 'nothing too new or interesting' on its own, but inorporate this style in a longer, fresher idea and you could be looking at a much, much better score!

War of the Worlds Pt1

"Cool"

date: April 2, 2005

This, Gerkinman, was marvellous! I liked the way it 'flash-backed' and how it was in black and white to differentiate. The voices were comical, which added some effect, and the graphics were in your pretty-damn unique style. It is always hard to start a story, but you did it well, and you didn't do the old 'scrolling Star Wars' gimmick.

Good thorough beginning - I hope the next 25 middle parts and the 1 ending follow suit! I'm looking out for 'The Falling Star'. 79% :)

Author's Response:

The Falling Star is underway...slightly lol
